Sacrificial killings during Kaali Puja in Bangladesh

Kaali puja is a festival dedicated to the Hindu goddess Kali. During the festival she is prescribed offerings of red hibiscus flowers & animal blood in a skull. Thus sacrificial killing has been a big part of the ritual for a long time.

"Boli"(sacrificial killing) is a very old ritual during kaali puja. Devotees offer to sacrifice the animal by beheading it in a single blow. In this grandly celebrated event devotees put down each goat`s throat in a guillotine kind of arrangement over a previously arranged stage and hold it tightly. They make proper arrangements and decapitate the animal in one blow.
